Juvenile served after shooting at Goldsboro mall

Goldsboro police said a 17-year-old juvenile was responsible in a shots fired call they responded to on Thursday at the Berkeley Mall.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police said a 17-year-old juvenile was responsible in a shots fired call they responded to on Thursday at the Berkeley Mall.

Police were dispatched to the mall, located at 625 N. Berkley Blvd. around 6:45 p.m. to a call of shots fired. When they arrived, they set up a perimeter and began looking for a suspect that was described to be wearing a black hoodie.

Officers located a 17-year-old male matching the description inside the mall. A search of the male yielded a stolen 9mm handgun from a residential break-in reported on Jan. 29, 2020. There were no injuries but one vehicle was found to have damage to a window.

The juvenile was transported to the Goldsboro Police Department where he was released to the custody of his parents. He will have juvenile petitions served on him for felony possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, damage to property and discharging a weapon in the city limits.
