Juniper Level Botanic Garden to open two weekends this summer

The 28-acre educational, research and display garden will be open July 15-17 and July 22-24 for self-guided tours plant purchases and free gardening walks with experts. The garden is home to more than 27,000 different kinds of plants.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Juniper Level Botanic Garden in Raleigh will be open to the public for two weekends this summer.

The 28-acre educational, research and display garden will be open July 15-17 and July 22-24 for self-guided tours plant purchases and free gardening walks with experts. The garden is home to more than 27,000 different kinds of plants.

Admission is free. The garden will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The "Gardening Unplugged" series will feature experts talking about specific areas of interest or concern in the garden. That series will be held at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on open garden days. 

“This series is free, part of our educational outreach, and no reservations are required. Just check the schedule, find your topic of interest, and meet at the welcome tent," founder and proprietor Tony Avent said.

Avent and his wife Anita gifted the garden to North Carolina State University. Tony Avent went to school at N.C. State and studied under the late J.C. Raulston in the 1970s.
