A malfunction blew out the side panel of a gas stove at Jones Dairy Elementary School, a Wake Forest spokesman said, and school leaders evacuated the building as a precaution.

There was a report of an explosion in the kitchen at Jones Dairy Elementary School in Wake Forest Monday morning. The building was briefly evacuated, but students and staff were back inside by noon.
