Clayton student accused of carrying gun, knife and brass knuckles to school

A high school student who was allegedly in possession of weapons was arrested on Thursday.

CLAYTON, N.C. — A high school student who was allegedly in possession of weapons was arrested on Thursday.

Johnston County Schools told WRAL News that the Cleveland High School student was in possession of a gun, a large knife and brass knuckles.

Donovon Maurice Covington, 18, was transported to the Johnston County jail before noon and charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on educational property. Covington was also charged with carrying a concealed gun.

According to the Joco Report, a tip alerted officials to pursue the arrest.
