MICRO, N.C. — Schools in Johnston County will conduct safety drills on Thursday, so don't be alarmed if you see police officers surrounding the buildings.

While safety drills are normal, the school district said Thursday will be different because it will require relocating students.

Johnston County Schools partnered with local law enforcement and emergency services to test the district’s processes and procedures tied to emergency student relocation.

The district said they’ll set up a fake crisis event that would require them to move students from Micro Elementary School's campus to North Johnston Middle.

The district says this drill is to ensure the safety of their students.
