JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Wade Harmon said even though he won the largest scratch-off prize in the state, "it'll be the same old me."

Harmon is an iron worker, who bought a $30 scratch-off ticket at the Big Boys on Bagley Road in Kenly. He didn't know that $30 ticket was going to change his life.

He went home, fired up his grill, and scratched off his ticket. He looked down, and said "Wow."

"I am thankful, I really am, " Harmon said. "I believe the Lord saved that for me."

Harmon said that he believes God has plans for him.

He claimed his prize on Friday. Harmon had the choice of taking $10 million annually, through $500,000 pay outs over 20 years, or he could take a lump-sum payment of $6 million.

Harmon decided on the lump-sum payment, and after taxes, took home over $4.2 million.

He will use the money to take his kids and their families on a cruise when the coronavirus outbreak is over.

And even though he will be a millionaire, he doesn't plan to leave his job as an iron worker.
