Yeah. Yeah. I mean, what does it mean to you to be following in the footsteps of some great management at this kind of prestigious trip? I had a feeling that was going to be one of the first questions, but obviously it's an honor. You know, I know those guys really closely, you start off with Bill ever. He was a Phil Corne when I was managing a long time ago and then you go to Charlie MTO was here forever and he really taught me a lot as well. And then Jared Samberg is a good friend of mine and Brady is one of my best friends in the organization. So all four of them have probably taught, taught us all something a little bit differently. They all did things in their own way, but the one thing they did is they got players better, they figure out ways to win no matter what teams they had. So, yeah, it's an honor. It's an honor to be in those, those foots uh to follow in those footsteps. What is it like coming into this position and having to live up to that standard? You know what I mean? That they have created in the culture. Did they win a little bit here the last few years? Yeah. Uh, so, yeah, it's, it's awesome. I mean, obviously I, I've been to in the last five years so I'm very well aware of what Durham is and what they stand for and how much they've won here and how much it means to the fans to win. So certainly it's in the forefront of all of our minds, but I don't want to put that kind of added pressure on our team to have enough pressure on themselves trying to get to the major leagues. We're not going to talk about it a lot. I know it's going to be hyped up, which is great. We're going to try to win every night, but we're going to try to play baseball every night and see what happens at the end of the night. What made you want to get back into managing after being a field coordinator? Well, I think a lot of reasons, you know, the field coordinator job was obviously something I think a lot of people in the minor league strive for. It's a really good job and you have more of a macro view of the organization. And I think when you get to the affiliate like Durham, it's more of a micro review. And I think that the biggest thing for me is more of an immediate impact on the major leagues, whereas the field coordinator is more of a long term. But when the major league manager and the G M ask you to do something, you know, they think it's good for me and the Bulls. I'm going to do it. So I'm really excited. I miss the day in and day out intimacy of being with all these players and kind of seeing what you go through with their grinds every night and the ups and downs and when you come in town for six days, every two months, you don't see that as much. So this will be more of like I said, more of an immediate impact on the big leagues and I'm extremely excited. Last time you managed, Michael was lower classifications moving into AAA. How do you have to change your approach? Yeah, good question. Definitely have to change. These guys have been doing this a long time. They've obviously been very successful. So really the thing for me is it's really small components every day. You know, they've got the major stuff down, they can throw, they can, they can hit. It's going to be a lot more smaller details. And the second part is you treat them like men. I mean, these guys have, have families, they have kids, they're grown men at this point, a ball, they're still trying to tie their shoes and get on the bus at the right time. And these guys are more about knocking on the big league door. So we respect them, they respect us. So that's kind of the way we'll treat it. What is this time of the year? Like everybody's undefeated and there's just so much expectation, so much anticipation. Well, there's a couple of component one. We're extremely excited. We've been in spring training for, what, 6.5 weeks. So that's the first thing we're ready to play, ready to play the lights, ready to play some games, That mean something. And the second part is just really trying to figure out the roster, you know, obviously it stems from the big leagues. What happens there. So they're still moving pieces all the way up to the last up until the opening pitch. So it's more of like just nuances of trying to get your roster and making sure that you have your bullpen, set, your rotation set and, and your line up set. What do you think of the automated stretch? Well, it's funny as a field coordinator when I come into town, I loved it because we were in and out 2.5 hours every night and we were able to eat at a reasonable hour and get back to the hotel. I always felt like our managers liked it as well, but I think, I think I'll probably answer that better in a week. I think it's going to speed up. It's going to be really fast, especially for me because I haven't done it in five years. But I think the players for the most part like it, I like the pace of the game. But if I'm honest, for me, it's going to be fast, especially the first night. What exactly are they doing real lumps and then challenges, are they doing it all? So I think Monday through Thursday will be the automated strike zone. And then Friday through Sunday is a challenge system which it makes sense because you got the bigger crowd. The challenge system is awesome. I mean, we saw it in Charlotte last year and it's one of the most stressful things I've ever seen. It's like, it's like slow motion on the scoreboard and the ball comes in really slow and it might nip the strike zone. So it's a really cool thing for the fans. And I think we've all found ourselves getting caught up in it and the second thing it does, players don't complain. So if you want to complain, challenge it and it just, it really cut out that part of it, which I thought was really neat. This level is already used to the pitch clock. I just want to know what your thoughts are on that and guys at a major level trying to get you, like I said, I think all the clocks and the time and I'm, I'm all for it. I'm all for speeding up the game. I'm all for playing fast. But like I said, I think the players are way more used to it than I'll be. I think the decisions that I need to make are going to happen fast and it's going to take time for me to slow them down. So I'm excited about it. I think it's, there will be some ebbs and flows, but I think it's going to take some time. At least for me, I think the players have it down. Can you believe that it's March and we're going to be starting the season in March? Yeah. You know, I think six weeks, six weeks ago when I decided to take this job, I felt like it was an eternity away and here we are. So, you know, I couldn't be more excited for Friday night. It does seem like it went pretty quickly though, forgive me if this question was already asked, but the roster that you get to play with throughout the entire season and during this death as the manager, I mean, how cool is that to have the level of talent of players that you're able to have at your disposal every night, you know, during this time of the year. Yeah, it's really cool. Most of these players I've seen since we drafted them or since we traded for them, which is, that gives me a unique insight into who they are as players and people. But to answer your question, it's a really good group of guys and part of that part of the reason of, of me wanting to come here and manage was this group? I mean, it's a really special group. The guys that we went out and signed a free agency are really good. So they're really good players. We just got to make sure we put them in the best spots every night. It was really good. You know, obviously Taj has gotten a lot of media hype and deservedly. So he's a really good pitcher. I think the thing for him was to make sure that he stays within himself and he keeps working hard and he's done that. He's so young and mature, he's very mature for his age and he doesn't let things bother him if he gets 3-0 count, he's fine. He gets right back into the count with the fastball and his all speed has gotten a lot better. But I think you're going to see a really good version of him Friday and then even better versions as the season progresses, but he looked really good. Can you speak on the fact that you're managing here in Durham? You know, the place of all the championships and everything and all these fans who are not baseball fans. You know what? I will speak to the back part of that first, these fans know what's going on. If someone doesn't play the game the right way, they let them know and I love it. I think it's great. They're really into it and I always tell people this before I even got before I became the mayor. Then we went to Charlotte and they had 10,000 people come here and we might have seven or eight. It seemed like there was 100,000 more people here because they're just so into it. More so than anywhere else. You go. I'm not dissing Charlotte because I think that's a great place. I mean, this place is, it's got this special environment that it's hard to describe unless you come here. So it's a really neat thing. It energizes me. It energizes the players. It energizes all of us. It's like on game 112, you're dragging a little bit when you come out here and you see these fans, you get inspired and you get, you get excited is opening day mean to you. That's a question I ask every year these things, but people always seem kind of excited to answer. Coolest thing in sports. I mean, opening day means something different to everybody. But for me it's special, you know, I think it's special for the fans. I think that's number one and number two, it's fun for the players. Everyone's excited, everyone's, you know, no one's won, no one's lost. No one's been 0 to 4 yet. So it's really fun and there's a lot of energy in the air. You talked about Taj, how about the rest of your roster? What you know of it anyway? Where is the strength of this team? Well, I think if, I mean, there's a lot of strength but I think the one thing that probably that's glaring is our offense, it's a really good offensive line and top to bottom, we're going to have a nine hitter that would probably be hitting third on most teams. And that's just, that's just the truth. I think most managers that we play against will say the same thing. So I think you probably start with the offense. I think the other thing, especially for a manager. You want depth in your pitching. I know last year they didn't have a lot of bulk guys. So they had a lot of guys that went one inning, two Inns and we have five true starters as of right now. So that's good. I feel like we have a lot of experience in the bullpen, so it'll be fun to mix and match there. Um, and I think the guys play really good defense now, they're still getting used to this field, so it may take some time. But the number one thing I think if you ask anybody is probably the offensive, our bolt guys, the starters are going to be really good. Have you got your hair cut at the barbershop over there yet? No, I went to, I think I went to sports clips yesterday. Yeah, I, is there a barbershop there right there? Oh, really? No, I didn't know that I wish I'd have known that. Yeah. So who's, well, that's, that's gonna be, that's gonna be a good question. It's one, it's one we're still debating. I mean, I don't, I don't want to oversell the offense, but the offense is, is pretty good. I think you guys will see that. You guys good. I haven't done that in a long time.

I'm meteorologist K Campbell in the wr a severe weather center. The big weather story is the heat. It's going to be feeling like summer next week. In fact, we are forecasting our 1st 90 degree day of the year in the triangle next Wednesday. Plenty of sunshine there. And you know, we got a pretty good shot at hitting 90 many of the days next week. We are forecasting upper eighties to 90 Monday all the way through Friday of next week. We'll see the eighties return to the forecast starting Sunday. We have 82 for the high Sunday, upper eighties, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of next week, Friday as well. The good news here is that it doesn't look terribly humid, so we've got the summer heat, but without the summer humidity dew points which measure the moisture in the atmosphere, which is really the best way to tell whether or not it's gonna feel sticky and humid outside. The dew points are in the fifties, Saturday and Sunday. So it'll feel pretty comfortable this weekend. But as we get into the middle part of next week, dew points are near 60. Not bad as we get into the summer months. We typically see our dew points in the mid to upper sixties and some days, even seventies and that's where it starts to get uncomfortable. Your weekend plan are mostly cloudy Saturday, 74 more sunshine and a warming southwest wind on Sunday. So temperatures should climb back into the lower eighties as long as there is enough sun on Sunday. If you're headed to the beach this weekend, still on the cool side tomorrow, highs only in the upper sixties to lower seventies for most Sunday though, we are likely to warm up a bit at the coast low to mid seventies. And during the week of next week, it would be a great time to visit the beaches. I do want to remind you as we get into the summer weather and the summer months always check in for the rip current forecast before you go to the beach. Some areas are under a moderate risk of rip current at the coast Saturday and the cans are playing again tomorrow. We're hoping for another win. If you are lining up to get a spot out at one of our local bars to watch the game, it'll be about 65 at noon by two o'clock, 71. And hopefully as we are celebrating another win, temperatures will be in the lower seventies over the next seven days climb and they stay up all the way through the week. Highs only in the upper eighties. To lower nineties with lows, only in the low to mid sixties, it's really going to be warm even at night. Just some small rain chances coming our way. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of next week. But no widespread soaking rounds of rain in the forecast.

Boviet Solar plans to spend $294 million by the end of 2027 as part of the deal, state economic development officials said Friday. Commerce officials approved an incentives package worth up to $16.4 million.

We have a growing population, a diverse based manufacturing manufacturers, top notch educational institutions, state of the art, medical facilities and vibrant art and entertainment scenes. The people in Greenville are as friendly and as talented as they come. We all work well together and that is a tremendous, tremendous key to progress. There are so many reasons to be proud of Greenville and today I'm thrilled that our city is getting even better with all of that being said, I would like to introduce to you a Greenville native and Chief Deputy Secretary of Commerce Jordan Richard. Well, thank you so much. Uh Mayor Pro Daniels. Uh it is a beautiful day and uh uh especially great day to be back home in Greenville, North Carolina. Uh So, on behalf of uh our North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Michelle Baker Sanders, uh Good afternoon. Uh Today really is not only the celebration of an incredible partnership uh with the city of Greenville, Pitt County, uh the Greenville Eastern North Carolina Alliance, the Department of Commerce, our, our partners across the state. Uh But it's also calls to celebrate uh some really exciting news and the first uh such announcement this year in Pitt County across the state in North Carolina, we are uh already ahead of our pace from last year. Uh Having a wonderful year in terms of economic development. Today is a wonderful announcement of that. Since January across the state, we've announced uh 39 projects and this will be our 40th, more than 3600 jobs across North Carolina and over $2.5 billion in economic development investment statewide. And today's news uh is also great as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of Greenville, North Carolina. Over those 250 years, we've seen Greenville change and evolve and the evolution of Greenville as a community is parallel to what we've seen across the state from an economy once dependent on agriculture and tobacco. Pitt County and Greenville is transformed into an economy that's supported by medicine uh and advanced manufacturing and clean energy jobs like we're here to talk about today. Uh having grown up here and watch that evolution and watch Downtown and Dickinson Avenue evolve and having gone to school across the street at CMXS Middle School, it's especially gratifying to be back and to be working on wonderful announcements like this. Uh And today, it's also an incredible honor to introduce uh someone who I've had the great pleasure of working for in Raleigh for the past 7.5 years. Let me just say, Chief Deputy Secretary of the Department of Commerce. And uh you might notice that I have a lot of people in my administration who are from Eastern North Carolina. It's because I grew up here and I know the kind of people that they are. So I am so happy to be here. With you today, seeing so many friends and familiar faces uh and to celebrate what's gonna happen today. Uh Thank you Marquita for being here, Representative reader. Thank you for, for, for being here. Thank you representative for you. Uh Thank you, appreciate all of you guys candy. Thank you for coming. Very grateful for you coming and being part of this. Um II, I wanna thank Mayor Pro TEM Daniels and say thank you very much for your hard work here. But it's great to join with you today with an outstanding announcement for the city of Greenville, Pitt County, eastern North Carolina and I am our entire state. I am so proud to announce that Bovi at Solar, an international renewable energy company has selected North Carolina for its first North American solar panel manufacturing facility that will create 900 jobs and invest $294 million right here in Greenville, North Carolina. Our economists predict that this project will lift North Carolina's economy by more than $2.9 billion over the next 12 years. This economic development. When shows us how teamwork, teamwork and that's a fitting word here in front of Dowdy Ficklin Stadium, teamwork and our amazing workforce. Keep bringing advanced manufacturing jobs to our state here in Pitt County. You have a great legacy of manufacturing, making everything from life saving pharmaceuticals to packaging personal care products and now comes important components for clean renewable energy. North Carolina is becoming an epicenter for clean energy that's putting money in the pockets of North Carolina families and small businesses. And as we've learned in North Carolina the last few years, a clean energy economy is a strong economy, providing American security. North Carolina is a leader in that 19 billion in capital investments and nearly 16,000 good paying manufacturing jobs created here since 2021 with the fourth largest producer of solar energy in the country. And with our bipartisan clean power plan that will get us producing zero emission clean energy by 2050. That means a lot more solar panels need to be made right here in North Carolina. This announcement means that they're going to be made right here. And North Carolina's emergence as a clean energy leader has fueled our growth and helped set us apart as the number one state to do business in the country for two years in a row, we all get to celebrate that recognition and much of the credit goes to our well trained, dedicated and diverse workforce, the people of North Carolina, they make up the best workforce in the country. And Bovi at solar is gonna find out about that. And our university Chancellor Rogers, thank you for hosting this today. Our university and community college systems including East Carolina Pitt community College and our research institutions and workforce partnerships help North Carolina stay first in talent coupled with our central east location, East coast location and includes easy access to transportation infrastructure by land, plain sea. And of course our excellent quality of life. North Carolina continues to be a top choice and we don't take opportunities and announcement like these for granted because we know that companies like Bovi at solar can choose to locate anywhere in the world, but they chose us. And that's why we must continue to increase our investments in education, workforce training in our public schools and in early childhood education, that is absolutely critical. This announcement is the result of strong collaboration by company executives, elected officials across both aisles and economic development professionals. In addition to Secretary Sanders and the Department of Commerce, I'd like to thank our Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina that works so well led by Chris Chung works so well with our Department of Commerce, our North Carolina General Assembly. Those members are here today, our Golden Leaf Foundation, our Greenville Eastern North Carolina Alliance, Pitt County Electric Cities, Greenville Utilities Commission and the city of Greenville. At this time, I would like to, to welcome to the podium, the CEO of Bovi at Solar, Jimmy Shea. And I'd like to present him with a gift on behalf of the people of North Carolina, Jimmy. Uh We are around to be receiving this investment grade and uh we are excited uh for how it uh will enable us to get our first us solar panel manufacturer facility up to and running and uh created, created uh economic uh uh our opportunities for the pul air. Yeah, for those who uh who aren't familiar. Let me introduce the about the poet founded in 2013 poet, solar head office in Unite, unite us Germany and our group uh headquarters in Vietnam. We have a proven track record of successful working with many of the industrial leading players. And our PV module are known for their power performance. And quality. This is evident because Bo has uh maintained its uh pos uh position at a Bloomberg new energy financing T one solar module manufacturers. Since 2017, we have been written at the top performance on people's PV module reliability uh score card since 2019 BB. Successfully completed. And in the independent e estimate of bo uh uh water solar manufacturers facility in 2022 the US uh solar industrial had been in K for water solar since we first uh entered the uh in 20 17 as of 2020 f uh three world solar PV sales and the PV models manufacturing capacity is more than three gigawatts and it's a shar a total of more than 6.6 gigawatt since uh in fabric, manually operating in us. Marketing. We are dedicated uh to helping to build uh American solar manufacturers uh with our new facility and uh filing, you know, cutting power in uh petit county, North Carolina and the, the natural. Uh let me tell you more about our plan for the manufacture plant. First one of the project, we use the building to manufacture our solar modules per to will including contracting uh start uh start off the art 500,000 to 60 thou uh 100,000 square foot factory on 34 acres to manufacture of PV cells which are used to build the solar panels. The location is expected to output the two gigawatts of solar and the two gigawatt uh PV cells since the future, uh uh will help bring our top performance PV modules to our variable clients to foster stronger connections with the independent uh power products. EP CS product uh developers, solar in, in installs and the contractors. We will have product uh they need uh in increase the deve deployment of uh uh U utilities, commercial industrial and uh dangerous solar project. We will require a strong workforce to product pro produce these solar panels so we will hearing about uh 900 employees uh over the next five years, job are expect expected to increase engineers, product workers. And so on, on behalf of uh B solar, I would like to thank everyone in involved in making this uh weight of product uh possible. The first is the governor uh Rio Cooper and uh and the secu uh secondary security Sanders and the North Korea development of the commerce tr uh territory uh D feature and the e economy uh economic uh developer partners of the North Korea Carolina, North Carolina General and Een North Korea uh communi Community College System, Go Goen Le found uh Foundation, Yanda down uh and the team at the Greenville East, North Carolina Islands, Kelly Andrew and the Peter County developer office, as well as the Pitter county government, Kathy Howard and the leadership team at the Greenville Utilities Commission City of the Greenville Electricity of the North Carolina and our advances today, our dream are coming true. Gov. Cooper announces major economic development deal in Greenville

A lockdown has ended at Enloe High School in Raleigh, police said Friday.

Good afternoon. My name is Lieutenant Jason with the Public Information Office of the Raleigh Police Department. Deputy Chief Boyce is going to provide an update on the incident that happened at a high school today. Uh Good morning, uh Deputy Chief Rico Boyce of the Raleigh Police Department. I want to provide an update of the incident that occurred here at in low high school this morning. I'm joined here with Major Harrison of the Field Operations Division as well as major latour of the field operations division. I want to begin by saying that everything and everyone is safe at Inlow High School. There's no students, no staff that has been injured as a result of this. Obviously with uh with the allegation of a firearm on campus, it really has an effect on the students and staff, but I want to alert the public that everything is ok. Uh Wake County schools have been very helpful in investigating this matter with the Raleigh Police Department. So what happened just after 10 a.m. this morning, a student approached the principal and made the principal aware that there is a subject on campus with a firearm. The principal immediately placed a school on code red lockdown and with the assistance of the school resource officer, additional officers were called to the scene. Once officers arrived on scene, they began to do a systematic search of the entire school interior and exterior of the school to determine that there was no one on campus with the firearm. Obviously, when you talk about a firearm on campus, it has a very large impact in our community and that's why we had a very large presence of law enforcement. But I will say Raleigh PD working with the Wake County public schools, we have determined that there is no threat on campus. We took this matter very seriously. We're going to continue to investigate and see how this all originated. But at this time, I just want to let the community know that this threat is unfounded, right? There's no threat, there's no firearm, there's no one injured at in high school. So we're going to continue to make sure that the message get out and Wake County public schools will put out an update of how the rest of the school day is going to go as far as any potential early release. I cannot say that right now, what I can say is a student made the principal aware that there is a potential of someone on campus with a firearm. The principal took that information very seriously and placed the school on a code grade lockdown and we began to investigate from there. So at this time, I can't determine if it was a hoax or not. Are you looking for anyone else? I mean, there have been a report that there was a student who said her boyfriend was with a gun. Are you looking for that person? Since no one was found in the school with a gun? We're investigating right now, like say this originated from a student and the information was shared with the principal. So we're still trying to determine what exactly was shared with the principal to lead to the core lockdown. So right now that is like say under investigation, did you guys do a systematic room by room search? Yes, we did. Like I say with this being a school and the threat of a firearm on campus, the Raleigh Police Department's selective enforcement unit, state capital PD County Sheriff's office, they all responded to help us do a systematic search of the entire campus, not only inside the school but it outside school in the surrounding neighborhoods is the lockdown lifted currently. No, it's still code red lockdown right now. We're just finishing up like say some last minute details with Wake County public schools and they will update us when they're going to lift that code red. One more question. I just want to make sure I'm clarifying this correctly. A call from the principle that a student had reported this. Are you still on the lookout for someone who might have been on campus and then left or are you investigating this in a different way? We're investigating this in a different way that this was a alleged threat of someone with a gun on campus. So right now, there's nobody on campus, but we're trying to get the exact details. Like what else was involved in this communication with the student and the principal. Can you really quickly just talk about the response? I mean, this is a massive response to something like this and the impact that has on officers, parents, students out there actually has a huge toll, a huge effect on our officers responding to any school with the potential of a firearm b on a campus. That's why you saw the response to get today. Uh We work very well with our law enforcement partners and we're very thankful for them helping us to clear the school. Uh And obviously with parents, of course, this is going to have a huge impact on parents as well as student and staff. Anytime you see a large police presence on a, on a school campus, but it's all to make sure that everyone is safe. Uh And then we're quickly, we'll try to get the school back to normal operators uh operating as soon as possible. So yes, we came with a lot of resources if there was a threat or would someone would have gone, we wanted to quickly mitigate that. All right. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all. Thank you.
