I was born and raised right here in North Carolina, and I speak on behalf of so many North Carolinians when I say that we are sick and tired of Donald Trump's broken promises. We are sick and tired of promises of relief that never comes. We are sick and tired of watching our loved ones right here in North Carolina gets sick and died into a failed response from our federal government. Do the Cove in 19. Another Failed promise Four years ago, Donald Trump said that he was going to make America great again. Well, guess what? For far too many North Carolinians, North Carolina is not as great as it was four years ago. This country is not as great as it was four years ago, with unemployment skyrocketing with inadequate access to health care. I know of people who ration their insulin. I know of people who split their pills in half. North Carolina and this country can do better. Over one million North Carolinians have already cast their vote between absentee ballots and early voting. If that doesn't prove that we are fired up and ready to go, I don't know what does. But we will continue to go forward together into the true words of many of you have marched with me forward together, forward, together, forward, together with Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris, a pair that will lead this White House with honesty, dignity, and compassion that we have not seen. I'll tell you what, That over one million votes also means North Carolinians are not only fired up and ready for Joe, But we have something to say and we're going to be heard on November 3rd North Carolina. Stand out with me and show up to the polls and let them know what we have to say. I'm Jessica Homes, your Democratic nominee for North Carolina, Commissioner of Labor, Power to the people. Okay. And you know why? Because we have Joe Biden and Camilla has at the helm of the ticket. Now, many of you may not know I have to get this in. I'm a Howard University graduate, and so is Camilla. So we're gonna We're gonna celebrate that together. But we must keep the focus on this race up and down the ballot. It is just too important because everybody on that ballot counts and has a big impact in the state of North Carolina. So I'm not gonna stay with you long This other speakers back there and you all waiting to hear VP Joe Biden as I am. But on my way out, Let's give us a victory dance, everybody. Come on. Unless when? On November the third. You too. Yeah, Yeah. Please welcome Congressman David Price. Joe Biden is coming to a key city and county in a key state at a key moment in election for the soul of America. An election that can and will and must get our country back on track. We've had enough of incompetent, hateful, divisive and corrupt leadership in the White House. We've had enough of deception and gross mismanagement of this pandemic. Enough of packing the court instead of getting much needed relief to the American people. Enough! Enough of coddling white supremacists and conspiracy theorists while turning a deaf ear and a cold heart to cries for racial justice. Cries for affordable housing and accessible health care and an economy that works for everyone But help and hope are on the way. And today we have the opportunity toe here, Joe Biden himself deliver that message of hope and opportunity and change. This community Durham has suffered during this pandemic has suffered from, uh, health effects of the pandemic among hundreds of our fellow citizens. From economic hardship from these difficult decisions about school reopening from pressures on housing and even homelessness, all crying out for leadership. Crushed. I've God, everybody. You're the best. Well, thank you. Week. I'm right here with you. Found right away. All right. And curve with you guys. Yeah, the Attorney General North. We visited Vice President in your home. There's no county. There's no county anywhere in North Carolina Mawr important toe winning this election than the county of Durham. Now, I want to be clear. I wanna be very clear. One vote has the power to elect leaders we could be proud of and depend on to strengthen America's families. North Carolina needs affordable health care. We need We need to ease the economic burden placed on low income families. And we need a government that protects black lives. Thea Occupant, the occupant of the White House and you know who that is? Has disrespected how military. He has repeatedly disrespected African American men and women, and he has disrespected the working people of this country. This election, this election is not about party preference or partisanship. It is about the fundamentals of our democracy. When Joe Biden is given power, he gives it to the American people he fights for the most vulnerable. As Vice president Joe fought for the A c. A. He fought for L. G B T Q rights and ensured that economic relief went to Main Street instead of Wall Street. If you don't believe that, check his record through through his campaign, his champion bold policy for Black America. Through his lift every voice plan, he has pledged to create a government that reflects the diversity of our great country. I invite you to visit Joe biden dot com slash black America. When Donald Trump has power, he keeps it. You know that he keeps it for himself. Keep them for his family and his friends. Donald Trump has fought for corporations. He has fought for big donors. He has botched the coronavirus response, and he has failed to forcefully denounced white supremacy. North Carolina. I will be loved. Tower Hill State. North Carolina is hurting because of Donald Trump. And he has the nerve to come here weeks before an election to ask for our vote. Where was he? Where was he when we needed him? I know. I know that North Carolina would not back down when faced with a leader who demeans and divides because we never have done that. We will do what we have always done. We will wield our vote as our weapon. You here may. We will. Well, our vote as our weapon and we will rebuke. We will rebuke hate wherever we see it. Ladies and gentlemen, my dear friends in Durham County, we cannot wait. Right now we have an opportunity to elect a government that is for the people. That means voting early. The early vote continues until October 30. 1st vote early. All of you in this parking lot who are blowing your horns and watching and listening to us. Thanks for being here. Hey, everybody, how's everybody doing today? Hopefully excited. I'm really excited to be here on behalf of the Biden Harris campaign, and I wanted to share some experiences of my own life and how I think they relate. Toe where we are right now is a country I spent my whole life in the sport of basketball my entire life playing, coaching, broadcasting it, observing players, observing great leaders. There's a couple things about leadership that I've learned along the way. One of those is, if you have a title, it does not make you a leader, right. If you have a title, it doesn't make you a leader. Now I know that because I've been a follower for a lot of my life, too, and so having a title doesn't make you a leader. I kind of laugh at that because sometimes the people that have the titles are the ones that are the most tone deaf to that right. The people that have the titles are the ones that are most tone deaf to that. Having power that comes with the title does not make you a leader having power that comes with the title does not make you a leader. Know what it makes you makes you powerful but doesn't make you a leader. And so when I look at those things that don't necessarily make you a leader, title and power don't necessarily make you a leader automatically. Turn to things that I know make you a leader, right? What are the things that make you a leader? The first thing that you have to have this is true in basketball. As a coach, I'm tasked with leading young women, teaching them to grow and mature and become agents of change in this world. That's that's my job as a coach, right? It's my job. And in order to do that, the first step you have tow have is you have to be able to build authentic and meaningful relationships with people. That's what you have to dio. You have to build authentic and meaningful relationships with people. Now when you do that, then when you do that, you build trust, you build a foundation and now that gives you the opportunity to push them to challenge them toe love and care for them, right? Those of you that parents know what I'm talking about, right? You gotta push. You gotta challenge. But at the same time, you gotta love, and you got to care for them. And so when I look at this election through the prism of leadership, if someone doesn't have a title, if someone doesn't have power, can someone push and challenge and love and care for our country? Guys, this is easy decision right here. It's an easy decision, right? So I'm proud to endorse Joe Biden to be the next president of the United States of America, and I'm thankful to be here, and I'm thankful that you are are all here to make sure you are. You are all out at the polls as well, so we can get this done. Thanks. Have a great day. You Greetings, everyone. I am Michael Alston, a god fearing son, brother, student at North Carolina Central University. Uh, a member of a Am I in a field organizer for the campaign fight for N. C. I am happy to be on this campaign in North Carolina and even happier to see you all out here to support Joe Biden. It is my honor to introduce to some and present to others. The Vice president today our country is facing a massive. Our country is facing massive challenges. But this campaign, along with my faith, has given me hope that the American people will come out stronger than ever before. People are showing up to the polls and droves because they want affordable health care, economic equality. And we want people who are not afraid to say that black lives matter. I am so proud to be a part of this movement. And I cannot think of a better person to beat to lead it. Then Vice President Joe Biden, his unshakeable optimism and his steady leadership has lifted this country up. And sometimes that we have never seen before. He has really shown himself to be the true servant. Joe Biden is a fighter and ally America for Americans in need. And soon he will be the 46 president of the United States. Just keep it so, ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, let's give Mr Joe Biden a Durham Bull City Welcome. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay. Well, no. Hello, North Carolina. Thank you. Thank you, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I tell you what, It's great to be here, Michael. You know, I tell you what. That's the reason why Hbcu zehr doing so well. Holly. She's here. Zach Hawkins, folks and a great coach. Coach Lawson. I'll tell you what. My granddaughter is with me today and she went to a school that Coach Lawson, uh, went to for a little while in Washington and apparently coach telling me she's recruiting some some of the girls basketball team on the for. My granddaughter went to school and she showed me coach. She showed me a a video you were doing for your team where you made a distinction between competing and winning the heart of winning, competing and, uh, you talked about, though working hard and competing, and everybody said you pointed out works hard. But you said working hard is absolutely essential. We're competing, is even more consequential. You could work hard, but did you compete with everything you had?
