Friday happens to be the first Friday of February (can you believe it!) and that means that downtown Raleigh marks the date with First Friday, an evening of extended hours, specials and more at restaurants, galleries, shops and museums.

I've taken my kids to First Friday happenings a few times. You'll always find kid-friendly activities when you go - whether it's a discount at a restaurant or longer hours at Marbles Kids Museum.

This week, to highlight some of the kid-friendly activities this month, the Downtown Raleigh Alliance launched a quick family-friendly guide, featuring six options for family fun.
They include a trip to Marbles' IMAX to see Pandas 3D or Oceans: Our Blue Planet 3D, flower-shaped gelato at Amorino and a visit to Read With Me, among other stops.

Let me add a trip to Morgan Street Food Hall to the mix.
