It'll be a wet next few days, but certainly not a washout

RALEIGH, N.C. — When you leave for work on Friday or send the children off to school, make sure everyone has their rain coat and umbrella.

We'll be in store for another night of cooler weather going into Friday. While it will get warmer as the day progresses, it'll also be much wetter.

The next three days won't be a washout. Meteorologist Kat Campbell says we can expect to have 1-1.5 inches of rain in the Sandhills and around an inch of rain elsewhere.

Current Temperatures, DMA

Most of the rain will come Friday. There's a 90% chance of rain Friday and a 60% chance on Saturday. Sunday, we'll get to dry out as temperatures head into the 60s before another cold front moves through to drop the temperatures again.

Campbell says we'll see the rain move in overnight, and by 8 a.m., parts of the Triangle will see rain. Areas to the west could see some freezing rain, but that won't impact this area.

As we head into Friday afternoon, the rain will pick up, with the heaviest amount of rain coming between 5 and 10 p.m. Campbell said the rain will stick around on Saturday, but will be more hit-and-miss and not as heavy.
