Summer vacation just started for most of us, but it will be wrapping up in the next month for students in Wake County Public School System's year-round schools.

And that means it's time for Marbles Kids Museum's Kickoff to Kindergarten for year-round students. The event happens in June for year-round students and August for traditional calendar students.

Here's the 2018 schedule:

Year-Round Calendar Kick-Off - Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Traditional Calendar Kick-Off - Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

These events are free for rising kindergartners and their families. Activities include a pretend lunch line, opportunities to hop on a school bus, a book mobile, science lab, PE classes and more.

I took my younger daughter to this several years ago, and we had a great time together. It's a perfect way to get little ones excited about the big step in front of them.

Marbles' website has more information about the events.
