There was a horrible accident on Lake Wheeler Road today where a 10-month-old was killed when her mother's SUV overturned, pinning the child underneath.
According to the state Highway Patrol, the child was in a car seat that wasn't secured tightly in the back seat and the straps holding her in place were too loose. Read more about the accident in this WRAL story.
The Highway Patrol recommended parents get their car seats check to ensure they are installed properly. I just thought I'd share this link which includes a database of places across the state where you can get your car seats checked. Click here for more information.
Also, a reminder: The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued new guidelines for car seats in March. Read an earlier post for more about that.
