Iredell authorities destroy $2.5M in marijuana
Investigators in Iredell County seized Friday more than $2.5 million worth of marijuana from some woods, the sheriff's office said Monday.
Posted — UpdatedSTATESVILLE, N.C. — Investigators in Iredell County seized more than $2.5 million worth of marijuana from some woods Friday, the sheriff's office said Monday.
Authorities were called to the area after the property's owner, who lives in South Carolina, found numerous plants about a half-mile from Woodleaf Road near a creek named Bell Branch.
The sheriff's office said more than 980 plants were recovered from three clearings in the woods. The plants were destroyed on-site.
There are no leads in the case, authorities said.
