Iredell authorities destroy $2.5M in marijuana
Investigators in Iredell County seized Friday more than $2.5 million worth of marijuana from some woods, the sheriff's office said Monday.Posted — Updated
Authorities were called to the area after the property's owner, who lives in South Carolina, found numerous plants about a half-mile from Woodleaf Road near a creek named Bell Branch.
The sheriff's office said more than 980 plants were recovered from three clearings in the woods. The plants were destroyed on-site.
There are no leads in the case, authorities said.
