KENLY, N.C. — Seven people were taken into custody after Johnston County authorities found components of a methamphetamine lab in a motel room on Thursday evening.

Johnston County deputies were assisting Wayne County in an investigation of an absconder, Stephanie Smith. Investigators followed Smith to Days Inn at 1139 Johnston Parkway in Kenly, where officers arrested her and two other people. Four others outside of the room were also arrested. A State Bureau of Investigation assessment team were examining the room on Thursday night.

This is the second meth lab bust in the past two weeks. Capt. Alex Fish said Saturday night a traffic stop netted another meth lab bust.
