Investigation launched after officer fatally shoots family dog, police say

Reidsville, N.C. — An outside investigation has been launched after a police officer fatally shot a family's dog.
The Reidsville Police Department said Officer Glenn Wade shot the dog on Aug. 7 at the department's impound lot.
According to WXII, the dog did not survive the injury.
Authorities said they have contacted US Investigative Security Services from Huntersville to assist in their investigation.
The investigation will include witness interviews, review of available videos and a review of departmental policies.
In a press release, the department said they "continue to offer our condolences to the Paschal family on the loss of their family pet."
