Interpol Issues Alert for Fugitive Marine
An international crime-fighting agency has joined in the search for a Camp Lejeune Marine suspected of killing a comrade.

Interpol issued a Red Notice, or international wanted persons notice, for Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, who has been charged with murder in the death of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach. Her charred remains were found three weeks ago in a shallow grave in his back yard in Onslow County.
Laurean has been missing since Jan. 11, when he fled after leaving a note for his wife in which he claimed that Lauterbach had killed herself and he had buried her body in a panic.
Authorities said Lauterbach was killed by a blow to the head. Indictments allege that Laurean threatened her with a blunt object to steal money and her ATM card.
Laurean is believed to be in Mexico, where he was born before moving to the U.S. and becoming an American citizen. The Red Notice has been circulated in 186 countries in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
"The Interpol Red Notice is a powerful tool that can assist North Carolina authorities in locating and apprehending Laurean and is placed not only in foreign law enforcement databases and border lookout systems, but in the central database queried by all 186 Interpol member countries," Martin Renkiewicz, director of the Interpol's National Central Bureau in the U.S. and a senior Department of Homeland Security law enforcement official.
