Insurance fraud charges dismissed for Spina
Seven people have been charged with insurance fraud after investigators with the state Department of Insurance say they faked car wrecks in order to collect more than $60,000 in bogus claims.

Seven people have been charged with insurance fraud after investigators with the state Department of Insurance say they faked car wrecks in order to collect more than $60,000 in bogus claims.
Warrants allege that Christopher James Short, 27, of 313 Bargate Drive, Apt. G, in Cary; Daniel Maurice Adams, 23, of 513 Tryon Grove Drive in Raleigh; Richard Joel Leblanc, 34, of 1701 Quail Grove St. in Willow Spring; Michael David Spina, 31, of 1740 Greenbriar Drive in Fuquay Varina; Samantha Jan Ferrell, 23, of the same address; and Clifton James Ferrell, 20, of 10136 Fanny Brown Road in Raleigh, filed fraudulent claims with GEICO, State Farm, Travelers and GMAC insurance companies.
A seventh person, Tamika Alford, was also charged, but warrants did not detail the allegations against her.
Spina, Leblanc and the Ferrells also face conspiracy charges.
They were all being held in the Wake County jail Saturday night and are due in court on Monday.
