Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin

Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin is also the state fire marshal.

Democrat Wayne Goodwin was sworn in for his second term as state insurance commissioner in January 2013. 

As commissioner, Goodwin is also the state fire marshal. Before serving as commissioner, he was a four-term member of the state House and served as the assistant commissioner of insurance from 2005 through 2008. 

Goodwin is married as has two children. According to his official biography, he serves as chairman of Safe Kids North Carolina and is a member of numerous commissions and boards, including the North Carolina Center for Voter Education, the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies Foundation and the Methodist Home for Children.
