Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey oversees both the state department that oversees insurance rates and as North Carolina's state fire marshal.

Republican Mike Causey took office as insurance commissioner in January of 2017.
He oversees both a department that regulates insurance rates in the state and serves as North Carolina's state fire marshal. Prior to his successful bid in 2016, Causey had run for the post on four other occasions.
Causey, 66, an insurance agent, is married and has one daughter.
