WRAL's Mark Boyle has more details on the Chad Lee Houser, the inmate who escaped Central Prison on Friday afternoon. He was caputed and taken into custody in Cumberland County Friday evening.
WE WILL BE BACK >>> BACK NOW WITH THE BRAND-NEW INFORMATION ON CHAD LEE HOUSER. HE'S FROM HOPE MILLS IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS A PRISON SAFE KEEPER. THAT IS IN AN OFFENDER WHO IS TEMPORARILY BEING HOUSED PRETRIAL. I JUST GOT AN EMAIL WITH SOME VERY INTERESTING CRITICAL INFORMATION. HE WAS INITIALLY CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE, SUSPECTED WITH KILLING AN INFANT. THE CHARGES WERE UPGRADED COME I'M READING THIS EMAIL AS IT'S COMING IN. AS FOR THE STOLEN TRUCK THAT'S HOW HE GOT FROM A RALEIGH TO CUMBERLAND COUNTY WHERE HE WAS ARRESTED AND IS IN CUSTODY. LAW ENFORCEMENT CONFIRMED THAT THEY USED ONSTAR TO STOP THAT VEHICLE IN SPRING LAKE. THEY STOPPED HIM FROM MOVING. THEY WERE ABLE TO MOVE IN FROM CUMBERLAND COUNTY AND BRING THIS MAN INTO CUSTODY. A LOT OF DETAILS TO GET INTO AND A LOT OF MOVING PARTS. SO HOW DID HE GET OUT OF PRISON IN THE FIRST PLACE?
