Infant found safe in back seat after minivan stolen in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, N.C. — A 5-month-old who was in the back seat of a minivan that was stolen in Fayetteville on Monday night was found unharmed a short time later, police said.
Officers responded to a reported vehicle theft at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in the 5400 block of Raeford Road and learned that a 2005 Saturn Relay van had been left running and unlocked with the baby inside.
The minivan was later found abandoned at the intersection of Glensford Drive and Raeford Road, and the suspected thief was last seen running behind businesses in that area, police said.
