Ah uh my name is Vanessa Ferguson a singer out of Brings World North Carolina International performing Artists Some people may know me from Season 12 of NBC's The Voice and today I'm here to perform at Nina Simone's house for me to walk through her home today to see where she was born where she lived It's hard to describe the feeling honestly this is someone that I've studied someone I've admired for a very long time because of her her talent and her her activism  This is a very small town for her to dive into music I think that they said she she rehearsed for eight hours a day I can kind of understand it being here but to see where she lived and to see where she went  You know all the different things she was able to do and just being born right here in such a small place where I guess you could say no once really checking for you that's pretty tremendous It resonates with me and you know that you can come from two bedroom or one bedroom house and go on to do some amazing things so it's really inspiring to be here I loves you Don't take me Let him handle me Drug You can keep me I wants to stay with you Oh little take me Don't let him handle me with this If you can keep me I wants to stay with you someday I know he's come to call me He's gon handle me and told me so It's going to be like when he calls me What When he comes No I'll have to go I loves you No me Let him handle me and drive me My If you can keep me I want to stay You Will Garrity Yes I love you Punky So let's take me Let him handle me and drive me if you keep me uh wants to stay way Nina Simone to me is um Hum Besides being the face of a strong black gifted and talented uh performing artist she's she was an activist Um she was someone who you know she wants to uh defined freedom What was freedom to her and freedom to her was no fear And to me I don't know how she saw herself but to me she was a very fearless woman And So you know it means a lot to me  Nina Simone believed in that you should uh sort of use your art to say something or reflect the times  I think it's important to use art to connect people to history because I mean mostly everybody has an appreciation for some form of art And ah Nina Simone was one of those people that would um use her her platform in her art to sort of cause people to think provoked Thought Ah she would talk about the things that were going on right And so it's It's sort of a good segue way to get people to pay attention just certain things or to learn certain things or to think about certain things Eso I definitely demon you know very important to sort of merge the two to create some change birds flying high You know how for you sun in the sky in Ohio feel breeze drifting on by you know how I feel It's a new dawn It's a new day It's a new life for me Yes and new dorms and new day It's a new life on be woo and I'm feeling  fish in the sea you know river running free It's a new way dragon fly out in the sun You know what I mean Don't know Butterflies are having fun You know what I mean Sleep in peace with day is done That's I mean world Well way It's a new way and he way Uh wait I was born in Brooklyn New York but I lived in Greens world for over 20 years Now this is where I basically cut my teeth The community here in North Carolina specifically um is one  That's just I mean you know it's I don't know it's my family Um and uh you know when you when you sort of been through the hardest of hard times and the trenches with people you sort of creative bond and you know a bond that that can't can't be broken But I appreciate everything that I've learned on my journey here um in Greens world And it's definitely what has um prepared me for everything else that that I've been able to do My skin is black My hair Is Willie back strong Strong enough to take the pain inflicted kid again What do they call me by my name ain't Sarah  Skin is yellow My long between Thio Thio my father and what they my knee My skin is my daddy Like I who's little I got some money Money better Look my skin is brown A man eyes tough way My name isn t Peaches for me singing It's like my peace of mind where I'm the happiest I don't know It's a feeling that I can't really describe I guess it's Yeah it's hard to describe that feeling  Um it's definitely one that I can't really get enough off that feeling off singing and it doesn't have to be on a stage or anything Um but this is something that I believe God has given me to not only help others but myself um you know to get through to experience some joy You know I feel like music is one of those things that comes directly from heaven And um it's it's sort of a little piece that we can get while we're we're all down here Way way That should soothe way way Give a long way way the way way Wow ways way sing Sing No sing Now sing Sing now Seen Because I know Sing now sing

I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilma in the WRL severe weather center, we had a dry warm day today, but a cold front is off to the west of us and it arrives tomorrow and brings the potential for some scattered showers and some thunderstorms. It's a pretty potent system today with a level three out of five risk for part of the Midwest. But the severe weather will be moving eastward as this cold front moves eastward as well. And we'll have the risk for severe storms tomorrow. Although the storm energy will not be as high tomorrow as it is today. There's a lot of storm energy west of us today and that's why they have that higher risk for severe storms. But as this system moves closer to North Carolina, it does weaken. We could still have some isolated severe storms but we have weak to moderate energy. We don't have the strong energy that they have west of us today. So it's a level one risk for most of us Friday. This is in the afternoon and evening. So isolated severe storms possible. The biggest threat will be some damaging winds and a potential for some hail as Well, the first half of the day is dry, so no rain worries for the morning commute. But by the time we get to the afternoon and evening, that's when we'll have scattered showers and storms and any of the storms that do form could become severe. And our highest rain chances are right during the evening commute. So about a 40% chance for rain tomorrow as we move ahead to Saturday, only a slim chance for a shower, a 20% chance for rain. But then a decent chance for rain on Sunday, we don't expect storms, but mainly the second half of our Sunday will have some scattered showers and it will be a cooler day. Here's a look at the rain over the weekend again, just a slim chance for rain on Saturday. Otherwise partly to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low to mid seventies. Sunday morning looks mainly dry with a little bit of rain over some of our southern counties. But then as we head toward the afternoon, a better chance for rain, especially south and east of the triangle. And then during the evening is when some of that rain lifts to the north and includes a good part of the viewing area on Sunday. So the second half of the day certainly looks like the wettest part of the day, still warm Friday with a high of 84. And then we're down into the mid seventies Saturday, high temperatures will be in the low to mid sixties for Sunday and Monday with some chilly mornings, Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Down into the forties, we warm back up next week though. 74 on Tuesday, 78 Wednesday and near 70 for a high temperature on Thursday.
