Planning for retirement doesn't have to be complicated.  It can be boiled down to 5 key aspects. Here they are.

<p>What I've seen in my almost 30 years in the financial and retirement planning community is that folks that have defined a budget have come out way far ahead because you know what you need for retirement. How do you plan for retirement if you don't know what you're going to need? So we look at what you like to do today. We fast forward in the future factor in inflation and, and cost rises and then we make sure we have a plan that can help you do what you want to do. Because think about it, what fun is retirement. If you're not doing what you want to do, that's why we encourage and help you work out that budget now. And that budget later, the most important part of any financial plan is an income plan. Matter of fact, I've said for years on the radio, you just have a financial plan. If you don't have income built in, once you have income built in now, you have a retirement plan. Why? Because you know, with certainty, every single day in retirement, there'll be money there. Matter of fact, every single month you'll walk to your mailbox we call it a financial fill up. There'll be an income check there for you. You spend it the next month. It's another check. Income planning one oh one. You don't have a retirement plan until you have income that's guaranteed for life for both you and your spouse all the way through retirement. Now, an investment strategy is not just throwing money at the stock market and hoping it goes up even though that is a strategy some people apply. Because let's say you take a guess your first guest ever on a stock and it goes up. Now you think you're an expert, you can learn real quick that that wasn't the right way and you're not an expert when the next stock you pick goes down. So what I advise is first, we establish a core part of your portfolio, the core money is going to be there, it's going to grow, it's going to protect that growth and it's going to give you a lifetime income after you have enough income, set up for retirement. Then we take the leftover money and go to the explorer side and we can take more risk than you've ever taken before in a proper investment strategy, encompassing risk and rewards, making sure you're not taking too much risk and not getting the rewards you deserve. But the most important part is that lifetime income plan first, then risk. Second. So legacy planning, one of the most important aspects of a financial plan and overlooked a lot of times too. So we, so we're so worried about today and ourselves, we forget about what's going to happen tomorrow to our relatives, more specifically our spouses, Children, we care for grandchildren, even that. So, putting together a proper legacy plan, is you talking from your grave to make sure people you wanted to have money, have the money they need. Now, we want to structure it the right way. There are ways you can structure a tax free legacy plan and that's vitally important. One of the most overlooked aspects of a total plan is making sure we have a long term care plan. Most people watching know somebody who's had a long term care incident, it can bankrupt a family and the first person that goes to the long term care facility, the second person, the second spouse is broke now. So we need to make sure we have a long term care policy in place. You don't have to buy a long term care policy though, to get long term care coverage, there are some specially designed life insurance policies that you take the death benefit today to use for your long term care. So you don't have to die to benefit from a from a life insurance policy. And you can be guaranteed to have that long term care coverage by having the proper policy. So it's overlooked and under understood, believe it or not. I know it's a new word, but let's get you understanding what's available to you.</p>

I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmoth in the WRL severe weather center tracking a cold front that will move through the state throughout the day. Today, we'll have some light rain with this perhaps moderate rain at times, but most of you won't get a ton of rain. It's just going to be some light passing showers at four o'clock this afternoon, we'll still have some rain showing up on the radar scattered showers possible. Uh, basically anywhere aside from our northern counties, our northern counties should be dry at that point by 5 p.m. or so. The rain is south of the triangle impacting our southern counties during the evening. Commute, still some showers around in our southern counties at 7 p.m. But beyond that, the rain will start to move out and it will be dry overnight tonight. And we're back to sunshine as we head into tomorrow. Look at how much rain we could get. It's less than 1/10 of an inch of rain. So we're not going to get much out of this system, but at least it's something, it's our only rain chance in the next seven days. So we'll have some light rain moving through thanks to the cold front, temperatures will likely get into the low eighties in our southern counties where we'll have sunshine a little bit longer. 74 for the high in Raleigh and Durham, 75 in Roxboro, 73 for the high temperature in South Hill, Virginia. So temperatures running pretty close to normal throughout the day today. Good news. If you're headed to the Bulls game this evening at 635 it looks like the rain will be out of here. We have a 20% chance for rain, but the best chance will be in the southern part of the viewing area, 70 degrees, the expected temperature at 6 p.m. 68 by seven and in the mid six by 8 p.m. So maybe take the jacket or the sweater with you as temperatures fall into the sixties starting around seven o'clock or so. So we have passing showers today. Generally light rain a little breezy at times with the high of 74 tonight, we'll have mostly clear skies. We'll get down to 51 beautiful weather. Thursday, partly cloudy to mostly sunny with a high of 72. Pretty much the same thing on Friday. Temperatures will be in the low seventies for highs. We're up to 76 Saturday and then low eighties by Sunday, mid to upper eighties for high temperatures in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday of next week.
