RALEIGH, N.C. — An illegal immigrant was sentenced Monday to 51 months in federal prison for organizing an identity fraud ring, authorities said.

Fabian Arturo Ramirez-Galvan, 34, pleaded guilty in April to conspiring to produce and transfer false identification documents and improper entry by an alien.

Authorities said that, between August 2006 and January, Ramirez-Galvan and 14 others participated in a scheme in the Triangle to manufacture and sell counterfeit identification documents, including drivers’ licenses, Social Security cards and permanent resident cards.

Ramirez-Galvan was a printer in the organization who oversaw eight "runners" who recruited customers for the scheme, authorities said.
