IKEA Update: They are NOT coming to Cary after all!
IKEA has decided not to build the planned location in Cary. Were you looking forward to having an IKEA closer than Charlotte?
Posted — UpdatedIKEA, the Swedish furniture store, has decided not to build the planned location in Cary.
The information was released by the Cary Town Manager on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. The store was scheduled to open in 2020 at Cary Towne Center.
"When I asked whether there was anything Cary could do to influence IKEA's decision, I was told that there was nothing; not even an incentive would make a difference," shared Sean Stegall, Cary Town Manager.
According to Mr. Stegall, IKEA is moving away from suburban communities and in to more global city centers.
