Florida and solar power go together like, well, Florida oranges and breakfast. If you're planning on taking advantage of the energy of the sun, the long sunny days of the Florida landscape are a sure bet. IKEA Miami, a new store that will be opening in 2014, plans to install almost 5,000 rooftop solar panels to provide some (though sadly not all) of the energy the store needs to operate.
The project will keep Miami solar panel installers busy, under the supervision of California-based REC Solar, which is taking charge of the project design. The use of solar power is only one among a myriad of measures at the Florida store to keep the facility as environmentally-friendly as possible, with the goal of supporting IKEA's mission of ecological responsibility.
