This is big news for breakfast lovers. IHOP has changed its name to IHOB, and the restaurant announced Monday that the "B" stands for "burgers."

The chain announced the unexpected, seemingly random switch last week via social media. The post hinted that the big reveal of the B would take place on June 11. Sure enough, IHOP -- we mean IHOB -- just announced its new name, the International House of Burgers.

Word is spreading that the name change is not official and that it's just a summer promotion, but the restaurant has not commented.

"We’re flippin’ from pancakes, pancakes, pancakes to burgers, burgers, burgers," a Facebook post read.

Prior to Monday's announcement, IHOP even shared a poll on Twitter about what the new name could be. "Breakfast" was a popular vote for social media fans -- so burgers is quite a surprise.

According to CNN, IHOP has been the restaurant’s acronym since 1973.
