There are even
pickle bouquets to gift the true pickle lovers in your life for Valentine’s Day.
Now, there’s a new pickle-themed spin on the classic dirty martini. Instead of olive juice, the “pickletini” uses — you guessed it —
pickle juice.
This pickletini recipe comes from a contributor on
AllRecipes. It requires premium vodka, pickle juice, pickle slices and
ice. You’ll also need a
cocktail shaker and a swizzle stick.
The recipe itself is simple — just add the vodka and pickle juice to a cocktail shaker with ice,
strain it into a martini glass and garnish with the pickle
slices. Watch the full demonstration below in the video posted to the AllRecipes Facebook page:
If you want to tone down the pickle flavor a bit, you can always replace some of the pickle juice with dry vermouth (which is typically included in a classic dirty martini). You can also use gin instead of vodka, if you prefer.
While it may seem unusual to use pickle juice in a martini, it’s not a completely new trend. A previous
pickle vodka martini recipe from
Rhubarbarians even includes
homemade pickle-infused vodka, which adds yet more pickle flavor. There’s also a ready-made
pickle vodka that you can use for this and other cocktails.
If martinis aren’t quite your thing but you’d still like to hop on the pickle-cocktail bandwagon, you could also try the pickleback, a popular shot that consists of Irish
whiskey and pickle juice or brine.
One pickle-forward cocktail recipe posted to Instagram by @cocktailsbyhawk even combines the pickleback and the pickle martini by including whiskey, vermouth and pickle brine.
