Jeremy Humphrey put his back-country running skills to good use when he heard a hiker was missing along Idaho's Peril Lake Trail.

<p>last Friday, 41 year old Jeremy Humphrey was preparing for one of his long runs in McCall when his wife told him a 43 year old woman from Donley was missing and the Crestline area after she went hiking almost a week earlier, the sheriff's office identified this missing woman as Laura Humphrey says he was familiar with the area and knew he had to go looking for. I just, like, felt something. I just, uh I mean, I've, you know, my father passed in the mountains. Uh, you know, my my entire life is intertwined in mountains. Just I just felt it like it just was like a like a spark. I just I just felt it and I just knew, like, get out of bed person stuff in the back and run. Valley County Search and Rescue had already begun looking for the woman, and her car was found at Peril Lake Trailhead. Humphrey thought he could provide a fresh pair of eyes and legs to the search. I just thought that I would have some of the offer because I could move quickly and really bad were trained. It was looking like it was gonna be about a 40 mile day if I if I did it right. As I worked south to North, I got to that rush Rush Lake area. I gotta walk around it and see anything. Humphrey says he climbed to a higher peak and called out for Laura. She was just settled into this little kind of depression in the its poverty. If you want above, you would never see it. When Humphrey got to her, he said she was in rough shape. There was a little, like, marshy late. Um, so she had water but no food for four plus days. Um, so it was time was getting serious. He gave her some food and immediately called for help. I was very thankful that, you know, I had three or four bars of the sale and, like I had good, uh, I still have battery, left a helicopter, picked a woman up and carried her to safety. Humphrey took the woman's car keys and ran back to her car, which was only three miles from where she got lost and drove it back to town. It's all good to do something not selfish, something something for someone else to use a skill that I've, you know, multiple skills that I have honed over my entire lifetime to put me in that position to do something.</p>

Jeremy Humphrey is an ultra-marathon runner who loves to spend his time in the mountains of Idaho. This past weekend, Humphrey offered to put his skills to use by joining in the search for a hiker who hadn't been seen in the area for more than a week.
