ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 have reopened after two tractor trailers collided near Rocky Mount around 3 a.m., spilling boxes and produce all over the road and resulting in hours of clean up.

The northbound lanes were closed early Thursday near Exit 150 for N.C. Highway 33.

At the scene, WRAL Brett Knese learned that both tractor trailers were headed northbound when one hauling produce went off the shoulder and became stretched across the highway. A short time later, the second truck drove through the first, spilling boxes and cargo all over the roadway.

The driver of one truck was taken to a hospital but is expected to be okay. The condition of the other truck driver was not provided.

Sky 5 video captured around 7 a.m. showed the truck was split open. So much cargo covered the road that construction equipment was being used to remove it.

The road reopened by 10:45 a.m.
