Falcon, N.C. — An overturned dump truck closed Interstate-95 in Cumberland County early Wednesday near Falcon for most of the morning. By 10:45 a.m., the road had reopened, but officials said there is still congestion in the area.
Immediately after the crash, the entire road was closed between Exit 65 (for N.C. Highway 82) and Exit 61 (for Wade-Stedman Road) near Godwin-Falcon Road.
By 7:30 a.m., the southbound lanes had reopened, but the northbound side remained closed. At 9:30 a.m., I-95 north was still closed.
Officials say the truck crossed the median and landed on its side in the two southbound lanes. One person suffered minor injuries in the crash.
Motorists traveling south on I-95 can take Exit 65 and turn right onto NC-82 then turn left onto US-301 then turn left onto Wade-Stedman Road to return to I-95.
Motorists traveling north on I-95 can take Exit 61, make a left onto Wade Stedman Road, make a right onto US-301 and then take a right onto NC-82, following NC-82 E to return to I-95 North.
