I-95 reopens after crash causes miles of backups in Cumberland County

Miles of backups were reported Thursday on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Miles of backups were reported Thursday on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.

Before 8:30 a.m., a crash closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 33 for U.S. Highway 301 near Hope Mills. The northbound lanes reopened by 10 a.m., but heavy delays remained.

Sky 5 flew over I-95 at 9:45 a.m., where the backups were extensive.

The crash itself appeared to be under a bridge.

A southbound lane was also closed but reopened after 10 a.m.
