I-440 reopens in Raleigh after multi-car crash near Capital Boulevard

— A major crash closed all lanes of westbound Interstate 440 in Raleigh on Thursday.

The crash occurred before 8:30 a.m. near Exit 10, between Capital Boulevard and Wake Forest Road. Traffic was backed up for at least three miles, according to Sky 5.

The lanes reopened by 9:15 a.m., but some delays were still reported.

At least five cars appeared to be involved. EMS crews were seen transporting people on stretchers.

Numerous firefighters and first responders were at the scene.
