I-40 East open after wreck
DURHAM, N.C. — Traffic returned to normal Saturday night after a two-vehicle accident partially blocked Interstate 40 East in Durham, authorities said.

The wreck occurred between mile markers 277 and 279 and caused a vehicle fire shortly before 2:30 p.m., transportation officials said. No major injuries were reported.

All three eastbound lanes were shut down at one point while crews worked to clear the scene. The scene was clear by 6 p.m.

A fire truck on I-40 East, heading to the wreck, sideswiped a van that did not make way for it, police said. No one was injured, and the fire truck was able to continue to the scene.
