North Carolina Department of Transportation crews will be busy this weekend with continued improvements on Interstate 40 through the Triangle, and that means detours and delays for drivers.

South of downtown Raleigh, work on the new flyover bridge from I-440 East to I-40 East will bring overnight closures at that interchange on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights.

The ramp from I-440 eastbound to I-40 West at Exit 16 will be closed. A detour will direct drivers to take I-40 East to Exit 303 (Jones Sausage Road) to turn around and return to I-40 West.

In Cary, the ramps from I-440 to access I-40, Walnut Street and Buck Jones Road/Crossroads Boulevard will be closed Sunday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday.
