Apex, N.C. — Highway 55 was shut down in both directions for nearly two hours on Tuesday following a concrete spill.
The concrete spilled from a truck. The cause of the spill is undetermined. The concrete was heavily mixed with rocks. None of it had dried, Apex police said.
The fire department sprayed everything down and a street sweeper cleared the concrete.
All traffic was diverted from Highway 55 to US 1, which caused backups.
There was also an accident, in which a car had tire trouble and hit the guardrail, at US 1 near the New Hill exit.
