KINSTON, N.C. — Damion Keith Edwards, 35, was charged with murder Wednesday in the deaths less than 24 hours earlier of husband and wife Paul and Melody Brown in their Kinston home.

Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said a friend of Melody Brown, worried after her phone calls went unreturned, went to the home at 1560 Cobblestone Drive, looked in the window, saw her friend dead on the floor and called 911.

Ingram said deputies found Paul Brown dead in the home when they arrived around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He did not say how the Browns died or what their connection may have been to Edwards.

Edwards, of 3333 Ponderosa Drive in LaGrange, faces two charges of murder, and other charges against him are pending. He was being held Wednesday at the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Detention Center.

Ingram said deputies were continuing to investigate the deaths to see if anyone else might have been involved.
