Hunt underway for 'armed and dangerous' man accused of shooting couple and son in Louisburg

Franklin County deputies said three people were shot just after 11 a.m. along Vineyard Drive.

The three shot were identified as:

Sharon Gourley spoke with WRAL News after she was released from the hospital. She was shot in the chest and said her son was shot in the face. Her husband was shot in the arm and his wounds required surgery.

"[There] was no justification in it," Sharon Gourley said.

Todd Richardson Rogers is listed as the suspect with authorities considering him armed and dangerous. Rogers was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

"He should definitely get what’s coming to him," Sharon Gourley said. "This was me, my husband and son all could have been killed today."

Sharon Gourley said the three of them were working on their driveway when Rogers shot them.

"My husband and my son [were] out fixing the driveway, neighbor comes out, is in his vehicle, pulls over right where my husband and son were in the driveway and just started shooting," Sharon Gourley said.

Rogers is believed to have left the scene in a black Chevrolet Tahoe, with the license plate HEC-8476. Rogers lives at a nearby home on Vineyard Drive and is thought to be in the immediate area.

The motive behind the shooting is not known, but neighbors believe there were long-standing disputes between Rogers and the Gourleys over land that may have brought tensions to a boiling point.

"The man that shot them used to own their home," said Donna Sanders, a neighbor. "And then they got it from him and it’s been some kind of conflict since then because he lost his home."
