CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 300 birds were either killed or injured after flying into the NASCAR Hall of Fame Tuesday evening.
A video posted to Facebook shows hundreds of birds strewn across the ground after making a hard impact with the building in uptown, NBC Charlotte reported.

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue said they were able to transport all of the birds that did survive. The rescue group said they got the call about the birds at around 11 p.m., and that's when their rehab team sprung into action to help. The group will be evaluating and tagging the birds all morning long.

Chimney swifts are aerial insectivores and require hand-feeding lots of worms," Carolina Waterfowl wrote. "It's an expensive endeavor but these birds are an incredible contributor to our ecosystem and eat hundreds of mosquitos a day."

The rescue group reports about 310 birds in total crashed into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. They said about a third of the birds were DOA, 10 had to be euthanized, 100 are severely injured with broken wings, legs or other fractures, the other third appears stunned and will hopefully be released in a few days.
