RALEIGH, N.C. — More than 600 people turned out Saturday in downtown Raleigh to run a kilometer in flip-flops in an attempt to break a world record. The previous record for a flip-flop run was 352 people, set in 2006 in Vienna.

The event was organized by the nOg Run Club, which hosted an after-party at Tir na nOg while they awaited certification from the Guinness Book of World Records.
