SANFORD, N.C. — The human remains found in a heavily-wooded area in the vicinity of Carbonton Road and Pickard Road have been confirmed to belong to Cory Dale Moore.

Moore, age 32, was reported missing on September 8, 2020.

The remains were found around 1:00 p.m. Friday by a couple walking the land with possible intentions of purchasing.

Moore's remains were recovered by Central Carolina Hospital EMS and the Lee County Medical Examiner.

His body was found within a half-mile of 96 Pickard Road in Sanford, where he was reported missing and last seen on Sept. 3, 2020.

Moore's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of his funeral costs.

“A GoFundMe has been created for his funeral expenses, since he passed unexpectedly at such a young age and had not made any preparations," his family said.
