You no longer have to actually go on NC State University's campus - or wait for the N.C. State Fair - to get a scoop of its decadent Howling Cow Ice Cream.

On Friday, NC State announced that 16 Harris Teeters in Raleigh, Cary and Wake Forest will now be stocking Howling Cow pints in six flavors - Campfire Delight, Cookie Dough2, Chocolate Chip Mint, Cookies & Cream, Butter Almond and Cherry Brick Road. Harris Teeter licensed the Howling Cow trademark and certain ingredients and formulas from NC State to make the six flavors.

NC State will use proceeds from the licensing agreement with Harris Teeter to fund student scholarships and dairy and agriculture initiatives, according to a news release. For more than 70 years, Howling Cow has been manufactured on campus using fresh milk from the university's cows located at the NC State Dairy Farm on Lake Wheeler Road. Until now, Howling Cow cups, tubs and cones were only available for purchase on NC State's campus and during the NC State Fair, where the line can get really long.

“This unique partnership will make it convenient for people to enjoy Howling Cow without coming to campus or waiting in line at the State Fair,” said Gary Cartwright, NC State’s Dairy Enterprise System director, in the release.
