Posted — UpdatedThree-time Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Barbara Howe says she won't make another run at the office, according to The Daily Dispatch newspaper of Henderson.
Howe, who ran 5 kilometers in each of North Carolina's 100 counties as part of her campaign, received 2 percent of the vote in Tuesday's election, which was won by Republican Pat McCrory.
Her showing in the election guarantees that a Libertarian will be on ballots for the next four years in any state or local race. If she had failed to meet the 2 percent threshold, the party would likely have been forced to collect signatures of registered voters to get back on the ballot.
