These are the expenses associated with responsible dog ownership, according to the ASPCA.

According to the ASPCA, dog ownership can cost almost $2000 in the first year, and between $580 and $875 per year in subsequent years.
Many homeowners find themselves deferring dog ownership due to the costs of owning a dog. Remodeling projects can eat up discretionary income. For instance, replacing a dishwasher can cost around $600. One Atlanta homeowner reported that a moderate kitchen remodel set him back $2000 just for the labor of an Atlanta contractor (that's not counting any of the materials). A carpenter admitted that installing a roof over a wood deck would cost $2000 in labor.

Would it be worth it to you to forego home remodels in order to afford dog ownership? Please tell us in the comments.
