KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — Firefighters on Monday were battling a house fire in Knightdale.

Neighbors said around 1 a.m. they noticed smoke coming from the roof of a home at the intersection of Silver Comet Drive and Twin Star Lane.

Neighbors said firefighters responded and left but returned again at 5 a.m., when flames were shooting through the roof.

At 7 a.m. crews were still working to get the smoke under control. Firefighters said they were having difficulty getting the smoke out because of how the house is built.

The neighborhood is relatively new, and neighbors estimated the house was less than four years old.

There were two people inside the home, but no injuries were reported.
