the january 6th committee now prepared to present their case in prime time, kicking off a series of hearings tomorrow night, which they believe will connect the violence at the capitol to a trump White House conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results. What are you hoping to accomplish with this first Hearing? Those of us who are here um are hoping that it communicates the absolute gravity and immensity of these events as well as how bloody dangerous it was for everybody who was present. One of those present was capitol police officer, Caroline Edwards who suffered a brain injury, battling rioters on thursday. She'll testify about a day. She can't forget what is it for you that sticks in your head. The screaming. I um, When somebody shows me footage of the 6th, I have to have them turn off the sound because that, that sound, that's screaming, that just constant, I can't hear it. It takes me back to a very bad place. The hearings, second witness, a documentarian embedded with the far right proud boys group who will share violent video of the attack. Never before seen public, most republicans dismissing the committee's work as political theater. This is completely choreographed presentation completely partisan. The good news is the american people have figured all that out. The committee also plans to show video of some of the more than 1000 recorded interviews they've conducted, including the trump family members, Ivanka trump and Jared Kushner Lester

Meteorologist, Amy Wilmoth in the WRL severe weather center, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for our southern counties. It's just south of White County where we have the watch in effect and this is in effect until eight pm. This evening. We do have a level two risk for our southern counties as well. Severe storms possible through the afternoon through the evening. And even after sunset, we could see some of those severe storms, damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes would be the threats with today's round of storms. The level two risk is south of the triangle. It includes most of our southern counties and the level one risk is in effect for the triangle area. So we do expect some severe storms today, just make sure you have a way to get warnings if you're going to be out. And about this is a look at the radar right now. We're watching numerous showers and storms to the west and southwest of us and all of this is headed in our direction. So it will be fairly unsettled through the evening by five pm. We have some of those storms in the area, especially in our southern counties, seven o'clock, we'll have some storms, same thing at 9, 1011 o'clock tonight. And then by midnight it looks like the storms start to move out of our area and things will settle down overnight tonight. But we do have that threat for severe storms. So we have the weather alert day in place for today. It's going to be mainly late this afternoon and through the evening into the early nighttime hours, 79 for the high today, it's quiet Thursday. We'll have partly cloudy skies with a high of 8082 on Friday. It looks like it will stay dry. But then Friday night, we're back to a 50% chance for storms. We'll have scattered storms on Saturday. A few isolated storms on Sunday and then we dry Monday and Tuesday with highs in the low to mid 80 S.
