RALEIGH, N.C. — Monday will be warm, but the week ahead will be even warmer, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Gardner said Monday will be one of the mildest -- and clearest -- days of the week, with mostly sunny skies and a high in the upper 80s. Highs will be in the mid 70s around lunchtime and around 78 degrees by 5 p.m. It will be a beautiful evening to get outdoors after work.

"We're starting off the week pretty nice out there, but we'll get into more heat and humidity later this week," Gardner said.

By Tuesday, highs enter the low 80s. Tuesday will be cloudier than Monday but mostly dry. Starting Wednesday, a chance for scattered afternoon storms will move in each day for the remainder of the week. There is a 20 percent chance of precipitation, and it will be more humid.

"It's just a slight chance each day," said Gardner, referencing "typical" summer afternoon storms.

Thursday and Friday will mimic Wednesday before a greater chance for storms moves in Saturday.
