Horrific abuse: Children kept in cages, daughter buried in barn
A Tennessee couple is accused of keep children locked in basement cages for years, with only bread and water to eat.
authorities say this Rome County House was a prison for the Children, and Michael and Shirley Graze care warrants say four Children, all under 15 were locked in tiny rooms, a dog cage and an unfinished basement. Sometimes for years, there were feces on the wall, no running water and open wires as well. If a girl about age 10 died after only being fed white bread and water, Michael Anthony Gray showed us where his daughter had died, where she was kept in a cardboard box after her dad and where she was buried. In the barn, where goats, chickens and a pig roamed, investigators found a skull inside the house. Authorities found a 15 year old boy who they say was locked in the basement for nearly four years. He was first sent there in summer. 2016 was determined that he was confined to the base to the basement because he was stealing free from the pantry and the refrigerator. A judge set bond for the Grays at $500,000 each. Authorities arrested the pair Monday, charging them with child neglect, abuse and kidnapping. District Attorney General Russell Johnson said. Investigators air waiting for autopsy results before deciding about charging the couple with murder. But he issued a warning on the long judicial road ahead. Hold on tight.
