Death investigation underway in Wilson after teen fatally shot

Police in Wilson were searching for clues Tuesday after a teenager was fatally shot Monday evening, authorities said.

WILSON, N.C. — Police in Wilson were searching for clues Tuesday after a teenager was fatally shot Monday evening, authorities said.

Officers were called to a home shortly before 7 p.m. at a residence in the 4100 block of Huntsmoor Lane for a call about a medical emergency, police said. When police arrived, they were told that 16-year-old Rodshawn Barnes had been taken to the hospital by friends.

When investigators went to the hospital, they learned that Barnes had been shot. He was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

Police have not said publicly if foul play was involved in the teen's death.
