A Sampson County homeowner was killed early Tuesday in a house fire, authorities said.

<b>DUNN, N.C.</b> — A Sampson County homeowner was killed early Tuesday in a house fire, authorities said.

A fire at 3172 Harnett-Dunn Highway in the Newton Grove community was reported at about 2:45 a.m. Firefighters discovered the body of 52-year-old Jimmy Lee inside while extinguishing the fire.

Lee's body was sent to a medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the Sampson County Fire Marshal’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
